Corner Sky Unit 700 sq. ft.

In the name of affordability in a city like San Francisco, it's pretty common for 1 BRs to get repurposed into 2BRs with little actual common space. This one had sliding pocket doors, so it could turn from big sleepover into 2 different rooms really nicely.

If you sat on the floor and looked out, corner 700 sq. ft. was a little penthouse in the sky, bounded by the sounds of school and church. We overlooked 2 courtyards (aforementioned school and church), which amplified the light we received even further. When you're looking to maximize light, keep that in mind -- when you face something empty (like a parking lot), you get more light.

It wasn't all good -- the massive windows let in light that woke us up every morning and scorched our plants, not to mention the panes were poorly insulated with large, classic old-building gaps so we were always freezing from the drafts. Morning routines were always some variation of HOT TEA QUICKLY and then crouching at the heater.

For the living room section, the bar cart from Brick Studio Loft 400 sq. ft. repurposed itself into a dresser for clothes and jewelry. I hung bags from the towel rack to keep them suspended off the floor. Bed Bath & Beyond oak tray tables offered extra desk / dining space. We stuffed the nested coffee table into the corner (as opposed to leaving it in the center of the room a la Brick Loft Studio 400 sq. ft.), and enjoyed many takeout oat coffees from Ritual Coffee Roasters in that corner.

I will note that as a yoga teacher I tend to be happy doing everything on the floor (from laptop work to dinner parties). This visually opens up the room and is a big $ saver. But I have been reminded that this is not for everyone and lots of people need "actual furniture", so just take note.
